  • I've tried a lot of hydration powders, and Desert Drip is hands down the best. Unlike other brands, it isn't overly salty or loaded with an artificial aftertaste.

  • The flavor blew me away. Not only did I love it but my 7 and 4 yr old chugged it down. We live in Florida and I can barely get them to drink water. Whole house approved.

  • I will be the first to admit I am ridiculously picky about what I drink - it was awesome! I ended up just letting him have a sip and I drank the whole thing!

  • I hike a lot and in this heat I need all the electrolytes I can get. This was easy to just pour into my jug of water, shake it up and I had a drink that really quenched my thirst.

  • It is not sweet or too salty as others sometimes can be. Very clean ingredients.

How It Started

An idea from the back nine.

It started with cactus water, a hot round of golf, and a buddy who liked to drink.

  1. The discovery

After moving to Utah and spending more time outdoors, Jon discovered prickly pear drinks at a local grocery store. He loved the taste.

  2. The idea

Jon brought cactus water to the course. His buddy gave him a hard time about the health-food-looking bottle, which got Jon thinking: could cactus water be more mainstream, easier to carry, and ready whenever you needed it?

  3. The stick pack

Jon teamed up with Michael, a PhD chemical engineer, to create Desert Drip—their first product launch. Prickly pear fruit, aloe vera, and five electrolytes became a portable powder stick.

  4. What’s next

Desert Drip is the beginning. The long-term plan is to source natural ingredients from the world’s deserts—some of the harshest environments on Earth—and bring them to everyone through products made for everyday wellness.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Desert Drip different from the average electrolyte drink?

Desert Drip combines prickly pear fruit powder, aloe vera inner leaf juice powder, and five electrolytes in a portable drink mix. It has a light, fruity flavor, 20 calories, and 3g added sugar per stick, with no caffeine or artificial colors.

Does it contain sugar?

Yes. Each stick contains 3g of added sugar from dextrose. The formula also uses allulose and monk fruit extract for sweetness. See the Nutrition Facts and full ingredient list for details.

When should I take it?

Any time of day. Most people use it in the morning or after activity.

How do I mix it?

Mix one stick into about 16 oz of cold water and stir or shake until dissolved. Add more water for a lighter flavor.

Which part of the cactus is in Desert Drip?

Nopal refers to the cactus and, in food, commonly to its flat green pads. Prickly pear is its fruit. Desert Drip uses prickly pear fruit powder, not cactus-pad powder. Explore the nopal pad and prickly pear fruit guides on our cactus education site, NopalCactus.com.
